Two rhinos found dead in CNP

Nawalpur, April 12: Two rhinoceroses were found dead in the buffer zone of Chitwan National Park (CNP). 

One was found dead in a tributary of Narayani River under Amaltari sector of CNP while another near Riu stream of Madi sector. Information to this was confirmed by Information Officer and assistant conservation officer at Chitwan National Park, Ganesh Prasad Tiwari. The one found at Amaltari sector was female pachyderm of nearly seven month, he added.

Similarly, another found near Riu stream was six-month old male rhino.  He further informed that the male one might have been died in tiger attack. 

As the pachyderms were young, they had not developed horns.

With the latest wildlife loss, the number of rhino deaths has reached 16 in the current fiscal year. Among the total loss, six pachyderms were killed by poachers. (RSS)
