By Chandra Pandak,Taplejung, Apr. 3: The high Himalayan region of Taplejung district has received heavy snow since Friday night.

The locals said that they experienced unseasonal snowfall with rains this time.

It has been snowing continuously in the high mountainous region since Friday, and it snowed heavily on Saturday night.

According to the locals, Taplejung had received the first snow of this year in the second week of February.

The high settlement areas like Ghunsa, Phale, Gyabla, Olangchungola and Yangma received the heavy snowfall on Saturday and Sunday.

Pathivara (Mukkumalung), the famous pilgrimage site located at an altitude of 3,794 metres above sea level, has also received heavy snowfall since Saturday night.

Although the rainfall after the end of winter has pleased the farmers, the off-seasonal snowfall has left many citizens worried about the disrupted environment and its impact on human life and wildlife.
