Jaishina waterfall awaiting access road

blog

By Pushkar Bhandari,Dadeldhura, Apr. 3: Beautiful Jaishina waterfall situated in a remote part of Dadeldhura district has been overshadowed in lack of road and publicity.

The strange waterfall lies in Alital Rural Municipality-1. Anyone willing to reach the waterfall has to pass through a 7-km unpaved motor road from Goganpani to Kailakhedakhan along the Bhimdutta Highway that connects Dadeldhura with Kailali. It takes only 30 minutes to reach the waterfall from Goganpani.

In lack of transportation facility to reach the Jaishina falls, visitors hardly reach it even though it holds enough potential. In the fiscal year 2018/2019, construction of a road to the waterfall had begun.

Bal Bahadur Gurung, the former chairman of the rural municipality, informed that about Rs. 10 million was spent on the construction of the said road. Alital Rural Municipality started beautification of the waterfall by constructing a trail and resting place in the fiscal year 2020/2021 through the Prime Minister's Self-employment Programme. Gurung said that the footpath and resting place  have been constructed at a cost of around Rs. 1 million.

No one was able to reach the bottom of the waterfall, which looks very beautiful and charming, because of the difficult terrain. After the construction of a 360-meter footpath this year, visitors can reach the bottom of the waterfall and enjoy the environment, said Sher Singh Parki, chairman of the Rural Municipality. Gyanendra Tamrakar, Information Officer of Land and Watershed Management Office, Dadeldhura, said that a footpath has been constructed through the consumer committee with the support of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forestry and Environment of the Sudurpaschim Province Government.

After the construction of the footpath anyone can easily reach the waterfall by motorbike and small jeeps. He said that a paved road was constructed by breaking rocks on the mountain by spending Rs. 1.5 million.

One, local Min Bahadur Rokaya, said that after the construction of the footpath, it has been easy to reach the waterfall. Domestic tourists have been arriving occasionally to visit the waterfall in the last few days, he added.

Among  many tourist destinations in Dadeldhura, Alital (a lake) is a beautiful lake in Sudurpaschim Province. Alitalbau Rural Municipality has also been named after the lake.

Jaishina waterfall of the rural municipality can also be developed as a tourist destination in this region, said Yagya Bahadur Deuba,  Ward Chairman of ward No. 1 in the rural municipality-1. He also urged the people to visit the waterfall.
