By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar.20: On the occasion of the 'Cultural Resistance Day' on Sunday, a song 'Paharaaki Phool' penned by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati was released amid a programme held at Mandala Theatre, Kathmandu.

Minister Kirati said that journey of artistes, art and literature is all about life experiences, incidences and coincidences.

Stating that 160 artistes had sacrificed their lives to usher in  the present republican set up, the Minister said that today was also the day when seven artists sacrificed their lives in Anaikot, Kavre.

Artists have made a great contribution to usher in today's system and this song has been released in memory of the artistes who had sacrificed their lives to bring about this system  in which we are living, said the Minister.

"I never thought that I will be a representative of the people but now I am the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation," he said,  "After the great sacrifice, Nepal has become a republic, but after becoming a minister, I understand that republic culture has not reached the roots of the society yet."

"It has been 62 days since I became minister; I have all the facilities like the ministry, administrative body, motors, but when I have to start, only smoke comes out, it doesn't start," he satirised . "I feel that I should fulfil my responsibilities with sincerity, remembering my ancestors and people," he added.  The song is sung by Rup Kumar Rai while music is composed by Shantiram Rai.

Dayahang Rai, Bedana Rai, Manita Jaica Bantawa, Jenisha Rai and Aainee Rai have made the music video.
