Two youths held with drugs, fake currencies

By Our Correspondent,Birtamod, Mar. 17: Two youths were arrested with drugs and fake Nepali and Australian currencies from Birtamod Municipality of Jhapa district Wednesday evening.

Police had raided the room of 24-year-old Subas Tajpuriya in Ward No. 4 of Birtamod upon a special tipoff regarding drug smuggling, but police also confiscated fake currencies along with drugs.

Police also found 19-year-old Prabin Tajpuriya, brother of Subas, in his room. 

They confiscated 4.390-gram brown sugar and 28 pieces of Nitravet tablets from Tajpuriya's room. 

"We also found fake currencies from the room. There were fake Nepali currencies alongside counterfeit currencies of Australia and other countries. 

We also confiscated four mobile phones and a motorcycle (Me 5 Pa 9797)," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Rijal, who is also spokesperson for Jhapa District Police Office.

They have been kept in the judicial custody of Birtamod Area Police Office for further investigation and legal procedures, said DSP Rijal.
