Manang move up to third spot

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 16: Nepal APF Football Club stunned Tribhuvan Army Football Club 1-0 and Manang Marshyangdi Club edged New Road Team (NRT) 3-0 to claim the second win at the Martyr’s Memorial A Division League on Wednesday.

Roshan Rana Magar, Saidjamol Davlatjonov and Kolffi Timothee Koudu scored in the second win of Manang at Dasarath Stadium. The result meant Manang elevated to third place with eight points from four matches. After conceding third defeats, NRT sits in 13th place with one point.  

Magar put Manang ahead in the 38th minute with his second goal of the season. Substitute Davlatjonov doubled the advantage of Manang in the 68th minute from the spot kick. Koudo dribbled past three defenders to add a third goal for Manang in the 88th minute. He marked his debut in the Nepali first division league with a Player of the match trophy Ashok Thapa Magar headed a pass off Gaurab Shrestha to score a consolation for NRT in the 90+2 minutes.

A lone goal from Mani Kumar Lama was enough to end the Army’s unbeaten record at Chyasal Stadium. The win moved APF to the third position with seven points. Tribhuvan Army is unmoved in eighth place with five points.

Lama scored the cross ball provided by Bipan Shrestha in the 37th minute.
