By Our Correspondent,Bardibas, Mar. 15: The fourth edition of Bardibas Festival is starting from Friday, March 17. Bardibas Chamber of Commerce and Industry has informed that the festival will be held with the participation of various communities, professionals, businessmen, and artistes. According to the Chamber, preparations for organising the festival have reached the final stage.
Bishnu Bahadur Khadka, Chairman of the Bardibas CCI, which is the organiser of the event, informed that the festival is going to be held with the aim of contributing to development and prosperity in the locality and district by making agriculture, industry, tourism and historical traditions and culture alive in Mahottari, the district that has geographical, cultural and environmental diversity. It is expected that this festival will contribute to the protection of Mahottari's religious and cultural traditions and heritage, promotion of internal tourism and promotion of business.
The festival is being organised under the patronage of Bardibas Municipality and will run till March 27. It will feature informative presentation about local products and tourist destinations, ethnic lifestyle, food and costumes.
Madhes Province Hotel and Tourism Entrepreneurs Federation's President Hira Gautam said that his oganisation would coordinate with the organisations and entrepreneurs in all eight districts of the province to make the festival a grand success.
"This festival and tourism have a close relation. Making it a success means there would be more business in the days to come," he said. Uttam Shrestha, General Secretary of Bardibas CCI, said that arrangements have been made to keep 170 stalls for commercial purposes at the festival.
He said that, priority has been given to the local products like agricultural produce, handicrafts, bamboo, wood, broom grass, local raw materials, forest products, herbs, local cuisine, traditional food and service-related organisations.
Organisers have estimated that around 100,000 people would visit the festival. There will be cultural programmes by local and national artistes to entertain the visitors. There will also be dohori song competition and dance competition as well. The festival is expected to be a platform for interaction among the industry, tourism, agriculture business as well as buyers and sellers.
