BY BIJAY KUMAR SHAH,Dhalkebar, Mar. 14: Fire control has been a challenge to Kshireshwornath Municipality in Dhanusha due to a lack of maintenance of fire truck. The fire truck provided by Madhes Province government two years ago had been placed in front of Mahendranagar Police Office it broke down after only a few months of operation.
The locals informed that there were neither drivers nor technicians to operate the vehicle after the current Mayor Sukhdev Yadav fired those employees who had been working on contract.
Three days ago, there was a fire at Krishna Furniture Industry in Mahendranagar. Since the fire truck of the municipality was out of service, all the goods of the furniture industry got burnt and destroyed.
Before that, a fire that broke out in Sanjiv Chaudhary's grocery store and Hira Electronic store had gutted properties worth millions of rupees.
Due to lack of availability of fire trucks nearby, they were not able to contain the fire from spreading to a large area, informed Kshireshwornath Chambers of Commerce and Industry chairman Suresh Yadav. He informed that even the ambulance in the municipality had been out of service for months, adversely affecting the patients.
Chairman Suresh said that they had submitted a letter to the mayor on Friday requesting him to bring the fire truck and ambulance back into operation immediately.
He said that the locals were also suffering due to the lack of timely maintenance of essential services.
