By Our Correspondent,Nepalgunj, Mar. 12: "Rani Talau", the third novel of Kalpana Kharel, who made her name as a erotic writer, was released during a programme on the sides of the historic Rani Talau (Queen Pond) in Nepalgunj on Thursday.
Facing the Rani Talau, the novel was released jointly by Sanat Regmi, former member secretary of Nepal Academy, and academics Mahananda Dhakal, Shashi Ram Karki and Hari Prasad Timilsina.
Critics Lek Prasad Pyakurel and Charitra Sah discussed the themes, writing style and message of the novel.
"Rani Talau novel is not meant for serious readers. The intended readers of this novel are youths," said Regmi, who was also the programme's chief guest.
"If the author had made more effort, Rani Talau would have been a zonal novel. Writers should be serious while doing their work," he added.
More than two dozen writers from around Nepalgunj were present in the programme chaired by senior writer Kiran Acharya.
Kharel's novels "Love in Jerusalem" and "Samalingi Sambandha", a story collection titled "Ragini", a lyrical collection called "Kshitij Pari Ka Shabda Haru", and a song album "Kamana" have been available in the market.
Kharel's latest work Rani Talau was released by Manjari Publication.
