Tanahun celebrates Paudel’s election as President

By Amar Raj Naharki,Tanahun, Mar. 11: Locals in Tanahun district illuminated their areas across the district on Thursday night by lighting candles  to celebrate the victory of Ram Chandra Paudel in the election of the  President. 

The lamps were lighted in all 10 local levels of Tanahun. People also danced and ate sweets. Tanahun is home district of President-elect Ram Chandra Paudel.  

"Born to a normal family of a framer in Risti of Tanahun, Ram Chandra Paudel has now been elected as the President of Nepal. It is great to see him reached the zenith with hard work and dedication," said Baikuntha Neupane, Mayor of Vyas Municipality.

Paudel was born at Bahunapokhara in Risti area of Ward No. 8 of Vyas Municipality in 1944.

Addressing the illumination ceremony organised by Nepali Congress Vyas Municipal Committee, Neupane also highlighted the struggles of Paudel for democracy in the country. 

The committee lighted lamps at Chautari Chowk in Damauli, the district headquarters of Tanahun.

"All people of Tanahun are happy to see our own local elected as the head of our country. We are looking forward to the steps he will take to make our country a better place to live in," said Surya Chandra Hadkhe, president of Nepali Congress Vyas Municipal Committee.
