Tanahun, March 10 : With an aim to ensure more productions, the Vyas Municipality in Tanahun district has provided as high as six metric tonnes of improved corn seeds to the farmers in grant.
The farmers were provided the maize
seeds with 50 per cent in grant.
Section Officer of Agriculture
Section of the municipality, Pratima Bagale, said farmers from all 14 wards in
the municipality were given improved maize seeds of Arun-2, Rampur Composite,
Manakamana-3 and other improved spices.
"So far, we have distributed
six metric tonnes of corn seeds. The distribution is ongoing," Bagale
said.
Bagale said that the move is aimed
at making the farmers self-reliant and attracted towards commercial
farming.
Prior to this, the municipality had
distributed 22 metric tonnes of potato seeds.
The municipality is also planning
to distribute the beehives to some 100 beekeepers. (RSS)
