By Narendra Dhakal, Gorakha, Feb 26: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has said efforts for electing the President unanimously have been underway.

Addressing the memorial day of the first martyr of the People's War and the concluding ceremony of the President Running Shield competition here at Barpak Sulikot today, PM Prachanda said he would endevour for the consensus till March 9.

"Our efforts are focused on forging consensus till March 9. If our efforts fail to yield fruit, I am confident that the new journey will be more helpful for stability and development," said the PM.

He viewed that a new political journey has started because the political parties that formed an electoral alliance have come together again.

Although we different political parties got together to reach out to the people during the election (held on Nov. 20). Situation changed and I became the PM in a different way. However, just yesterday (Saturday), we eight parties including those which formed alliance for the poll came again together in the context of the election of the President. We are in close talks continuously with the CPN (UML) in this regard to forge consensus, Prime Minister Prachanda said.

He said all the martyrs of the People's War and the People's Movement will be recognized as the national martyrs and publish their names in national gazette.
