PM Prachanda directs agriculture ministry to address farmers' demand

Kathmandu, Feb 4: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has drawn the attention of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock towards the news that farmers in the Chitwan district threw vegetables on street, reasoning they did not get the price of the product.     

PM Prachanda directed the ministry to immediately take initiatives to address the farmer's demands, according to a media expert to PM, Manahari Timilsina. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Jwala Kumari Saha, had been drawn attention to pay heed to the farmers' complaints and problems.

Minister Saha who is currently in Chitwan has been asked to hold meetings with concerned farms and relay information to the PM. 

Similarly, Minister Saha assured that she would hold discussions with the farmers and take necessary initiatives. She would urge for PM's help if assistance at the policy level was required for it, Timilsina added. 

Moreover, PM Prachanda will also hold discussions and consultations with the minister, secretary and government officials for further action to this end. (RSS)
