Stolen Buddha idol located in Thailand

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, Feb. 3: A Nepali artefact has been located in a private collection in Thailand. 

The artefact is a 10th century stone image of standing Buddha, stolen from a Buddhist monastery Lokakirti Mahavihara of Patan. 

According to Lost Arts of Nepal, a Facebook page that tracks the whereabouts of Nepal’s stolen artefacts, the standing Buddha was stolen in the mid-1970s.    

As documented in the book of ‘The Stolen Images of Nepal’ by Lain Singh Wangdel, the sculpture of standing Buddha was stolen in 1970. 

Another book of ‘The stone Statue of Nepal’ part-2, there was also mention about the sculpture.
