Kiwi jam firm opened in Khotang

By Our Correspondent,Khotang, Feb.1: The production of jam from Kiwi has started in Khotang. The production of kiwi jam has been started in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-6 in Khotang district.

Kiwi jam produced by seven local entrepreneurs after registering the Chimal Fruit Processing Industry is being sold in Diktel market and nearby areas.

Chairman of the board of directors of the industry Shubhachandra Rai informed that although it is still in the testing stage, the jam has received a good market price. According to Rai, jam weighing 500 grams is being sold at Rs. 300 and 700 grams at Rs. 400.

The processing industry has been operated to produce 13 types of food including jam, juice, squash and candy.

According to the committee, the industry has been established to produce various types of food products from fruits such as kiwi, banana, mango, guava and pear.

Farmers are happy after the establishment of a fruit processing industry for the first time in the district.

The farmers were happy that the fruits they produced such as kiwi, banana, mango, pears and guava would not be wasted. The main commercial centre of the district, near Diktel Bazar, has been opened with the industry.

The aim is to collect and process fruits produced in different places of the district.

Due to the lack of processing industry, the fruits produced by the farmers of the district used to go to waste until now.
