Surya Nepal Golf Tour begins today

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Dec. 6: The Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2022-23 starts as the Surya Nepal Kathmandu Open tees off at Royal Nepal Golf Club in Kathmandu on Tuesday. 

The event will be played over 72 holes in which cut will be applied after 2 rounds (36 holes), informed Deepak Acharya, General Secretary of Nepal Professional Golf Association. “Only top 21 pros and ties will make their journey to the final 36 holes along with amateurs.”

A total of 31 professional golfers will test their skills for total prize money of Rs 670,000 at the Kathmandu Open. The winner of the event will bag Rs 116000, the runner–up will earn Rs 74000 and the 3rd will get Rs 63000.

Five Amateurs will rub shoulders with the professionals in this tournament. Nepal number one and regular on the Professional Golf Tour of India, Sukra Bahadur Rai, Bhuwan Nagarkoti, Dhana Thapa, Sanjay Lama and Rame Magar are the main contenders. 

Rabindra Man Shrestha, President of NPGA said he is excited to see younger golfers performing well in the coming season, which marks the 15th year 

of the tour.
