Farmers busy harvesting paddy

By Our Correspondent,Sarlahi, Nov. 27: Farmers of Sarlahi are busy harvesting paddy. The farmers here are now cutting the paddy rice by using the thresher.

Farmers in northern Chure belt of the district had harvested paddy immediately after Tihar and Chhath, but in the East-West highway area and in the southern region, it is time to harvest paddy after it has ripened.

According to the Agricultural Knowledge Centre, Malangwa, farmers are harvesting the paddy.

Chief of the Centre Ganesh Prasad Singh informed that farmers across the district are busy harvesting and storing the paddy.

He said that there was no timely rain during the planting of paddy and even after planting, there was no growth in paddy production due to lack of sufficient fertiliser.

Some farmers are harvesting paddy with workers. In some areas of the district, paddy harvesting has also been done using machines as well.

Umakanta Raya, a farmer of Kabilasi of Sarlahi, said that farmers here are now busy harvesting paddy after the election.

Paddy is cultivated at around 46,500 hectares of land in Sarlahi.
