Mahottari, Sept 4: Emphasis has been laid on promoting the diverse culture of Madhesh.
During a discussion on a working
paper presented in the second assembly of Nepal Progressive Professors
Association of Madhesh Province in Bardibas of Mahottari recently, the
participants emphasized the promotion of different languages, cultures, art, and literature of Madhes.
In the opening session of the
assembly, Reader Kishore Kumar Shah presented a paper on 'Higher Education in
Madhes Province' and while Reader Hira Lal Karn presented a paper on 'Madhes
Culture and Social Transformation'.
Inaugurating the assembly, the Central
Secretary of CPN (UML) Raghubir Mahaseth said that the language, literature,
art, culture, and economics of Madhesh hold a notable place in the civilization
development of Nepal. He said that history confirmed that during the Malla
period, the opinion of the scholars of Madhesh was taken by the security and
finance departments.
The participants of the program
insisted on learning from the past when Maithili language dramas were staged
in the palace during the Malla period and scholars from Madhes participated in
the poetry conference.
In his presentation, Reader Shah emphasized the need to increase the access of poor, Dalit, and marginalized
caste communities to higher education in Madhes.
At the program, the central
president of the organization, Professor Dr. Bedaraj KC, said the situation of
education in Madhes is very worrying and emphasized the need for a timely
