By TRN Online, Kathmadnu, April 8: A courtesy meeting has been held between the Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr Bikram Timilsina and a high-level representative from the World Bank (WB) today.
A team, including World Bank Country Division Director for the Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, David Sislen, attended the meeting that was held at a ministry in Singha Durbar on Wednesday.
The ministry issued a press release saying that during the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the current status of cooperation and future collaboration.
Congratulating the newly elected minister Timilsina, Director Sislen showed concern about the priority of the government for the 'Nepal: Digital Transformation Project', which is being implemented with support from the World Bank.
He expressed confidence that the project would provide significant support in implementing the government's governance reform agenda.
The director said that the WB is committed to providing support in areas of expanding access to promote Nepal's information technology sector, data management, digital transformation, media literacy, and governance improvement.
On the occasion, Minister Dr Timilsina expressed gratitude for the support of the World Bank and said that the implementation of the 'Nepal: Digital Transformation Project' would be accelerated.
Saying with the formation of the new government, work on the development of physical infrastructure and result-oriented public service has commenced, he said, "The government is committed to solving the problems seen in various schemes by working differently than in the past."
The meeting was also attended by the Ministry's Information Technology Division Chief, Adesh Khadka, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other officials from the World Bank.
