Bajura, Aug 5 : Birkholz Jharana (waterfall) located between wards nos. 6 and 8 of
Badimalika Municipality which offers
fascinating natural beauty was known only to the locals and a few domestic tourists till a couple of months back.
But lately, the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting this scenic spot has been increasing thanks to the local government for prioritizing its protection and promotion and making this hidden gem a choice of locals.
This waterfall is around 200 meters high. The amusing natural beauty and stunning views of this waterfall and the surrounding areas make it a must-visit place in Sudurpaschim Province.
This attractive waterfall lies on the way leading to the district headquarters, Martadi, and near the Safe-Martadi highway.
This is also a reason why the number of tourists visiting it has increased. Preservation and promotion of the waterfall are now the priority of both the Badimalika Municipality and its locals.
Kala Baduwal of Badimalika Municipality-6 said after the development of infrastructures, including roads and bridges, hundreds of domestic and foreign tourists visit the waterfall a day.
She said, “The scenic beauty and religious sites of Badimalika, Budinanda, Kalajarga, Khaptad, Chhededaha, and Badalekh among others have been attracting both the domestic and foreign tourists in the region and Birekhola Jharana is one of them”
According to Baduwal, the waterfall is the perfect gift of nature to locals.
All three levels of government should come up with a plan to promote this tourist site and create job opportunities for the young generation, locals said.
Lately, Badimalika Municipality has initiated works for the preservation and promotion of the waterfall.
Following the initiation of the municipality, the waterfall has been promoted as the touristic site of the district.
Locals said that the waterfall has been there for hundreds of years, but it became popular after the local government came up with a plan to promote it.
Dal Bahadur Baduwal, another local, believed that if the waterfall was promoted further, it would be beneficial for the whole district. It can also contribute to the economic growth of the region.
“It is known as a new tourist destination in the Bajura district.
This waterfall never fails to amuse its visitors. However, the provincial government has not been serious about promoting this amazing beauty of nature. The sole effort of the local government is not sufficient for its promotion,” he said.
