A rare red panda has been spotted in the Tilagufa area of Kalikot district. The animal was seen in the Rudubanchu area of the Red Panda Conservation Forest in Tilagufa Municipality-10. The red panda, known for its reddish body, black legs and white face, is a rare and protected species found in Nepal’s Himalayan and high hill regions. Locals believe the forests and natural environment of Tilagufa provide a suitable habitat for the species.
Women in Patarasi Rural Municipality of Jumla have gradually started abandoning the old tradition that compels menstruating women to stay in a chhuigoth (menstrual hut) during their periods. Most women in the area are now moving towards staying safely inside their homes during menstruation, maintaining hygiene and eating nutritious food. Nepal Rastra Bank has announced that it will review the existing provision related to providing a Standing Deposit Facility (SDF) to banks and financial institutions. Sanjay Darnal of Biratnagar lives with a disability caused by spinal cord paralysis. As a resident of Biratnagar, he was compelled to seek ways to earn a daily livelihood. For the past 16 years, Darnal’s daily routine was to cross the border to the Indian market of Jogbani and transporting goods on a tricycle to sell in shops in Biratnagar. By bringing food items and other goods according to demand, he earned up to Rs. 1,000 a day. However, for persons with physical disabilities, physical limitations posed an equally significant challenge. Moreover, bringing goods across the border was not an easy task, and the government was not willing to allow such activities indefinitely.
