Finance Minister Paudel, WB regional vice-chair Zutt hold meeting
Visiting World Bank Vice President for South Asia, Johannes Zutt, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, on Tuesday. During the meeting, which took place at the Ministry of Finance, they discussed a wide range of issues including the overall economy, urban and physical infrastructure, investment, tourism, and the environment, according to the Finance Minister’s Secretariat.
STC, FMTCL to open fair-price shops targeting festivals from September 15
According to the decision of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies on August 24, the Food Management and Trading Company Limited (FMTCL) and the Salt Trading Corporation (STC) will operate the subsidised price shops.
EC calls political parties for registration in view of upcoming PA by-election in Manang
The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notice inviting political parties to register for participation in the upcoming Province Assembly (PA) by-election scheduled for Kattik 17 (November 3). The by-election will be held in Manang PA Constituency-2, which falls under the House of Representatives (HoR) Constituency-1.
Rs 638 million mountaineering revenue collected
Number of mountain climbers has been increasing in recent period. According to the Department of Tourism, a total of Rs 638 million in revenue was collected from mountaineering expeditions climbing different mountains and peaks from March 1-April 21 (spring climbing season) of the current fiscal year.

Women Entrepreneurs' Gallery serves a good platform for entrepreneurs in Morang
Biratnagar, Sept 2: The Women Entrepreneurs' Gallery, established by the women entrepreneurs from Morang district, has become a beacon of hope for struggling women entrepreneurs since it has created a platform to further flourish their creativity and enterprises. In the past two years, the gallery has opened up market for women entrepreneurs to empower women and promote tourism too. The Gallery is full of artistically produced goods by the women entrepreneurs from the Koshi Province.The Vice Chair of the Morang Chapter of the Women Entrepreneurs Association Kriti Shrestha Upadhyay shared that the gallery has served as a platform for continuous exhibition of the goods produced by the women entrepreneurs.The gallery comprises handicrafts, goods produced by the reuse of different materials, goods for decoration and local cuisines, among others. The goods showcased there are produced by the women entrepreneurs from Morang, Sundari, Banke, Bhaktapur, Kathmandu, Dhankuta and other districts too and some 50 types of goods have been kept in the gallery. The gallery has bridged the gap of goods exchange and marketing, according to Shrestha. The main purpose of the gallery is to promote the products while showcasing the women entrepreneurs' products, not only being focused on the direct sale of the goods. The gallery has created more opportunities, financial confidence and timely payment through direct sale of the goods by accepting orders. She shared, "We have offered space to all entrepreneurs including students, startups and small business holders." The gallery is a 'live case study' which ensures sustainable productions and promotion of women entrepreneurs, according to Shrestha. (RSS)

Financial closure for Sanibheri hydel project
The financial closure has been confirmed for the Sanibheri Hydropower Project to be developed by the Expert Hydro Investment Company. The different banks and financial institutions under the leadership of Citizens Bank have agreed to invest for the development of the 44.52 megawatt project, which is based in wards no. 7 and 14 of Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality in Rukum Purba district.
Benju Sharma to receive this year's BP Literature Prize
This year's BP Literature Prize is to be conferred on senior literary figure Dr Benju Sharma. The prize established by the Jananayak BP Koirala Memorial Trust carries a purse of Rs 100,000 and a letter of appreciation. A meeting of the prize selection committee of the Trust held on Monday took this decision, according to the Trust.
