Biratnagar, Nov 9: The Agriculture Development Directorate in Biratnagar has stated that persistent rain has resulted in damage to paddy crop worth Rs 2.5 billion in Koshi Province. The region experienced continuous rainfall during the third week of October. This relentless precipitation also harmed 2,000 metric tonnes of vegetables across 200 hectares in Sunsari, valued at approximately 40 million rupees, according to Purnamaya Gurung, the Directorate's information officer. Information Officer Gurung detailed that the incessant rain damaged crops on 4,364 hectares in Jhapa, on 3,421 hectares in Morang, on 2,851 hectares in Sunsari, on 323 hectares in Udayapur, on 268 hectares in Ilam, on 144 hectares in Panchthar, on 120 hectares in Taplejung, on 118 hectares in Dhankuta, on 157 hectares in Tehrathum, on 250 hectares in Bhojpur, on 200 hectares in Khotang, on 76 hectares in Okhaldhunga, on 15 hectares in Solukhumbu, and on 125 hectares in Sankhuwasabha. In total, Koshi Province had 268,765 hectares of land planted with paddy, with unseasonal rains affecting 12,432 hectares of paddy and 200 hectares of vegetable crops.
