Kathmandu, Nov 9: The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO), an organisation of people of Nepali origin residing in different countries, has elected a 21-member US National Committee under chairmanship of Bhuwan Gautam.
The ANO assembly held at Pennsylvania of USA elected Dr Sanju Mahato to the post of Vice-Chair as well as Bibek Poudel as Secretary, Chandra Parajuli as Joint-Secretary and Trishna Chimoriya as Treasurer, said ANO Central General-Secretary Chudamani Bhattarai.
Inaugurating the conference, Charge d' Affaires of Nepal at Embassy of Nepal to US, Sharad Raj Aran, said Nepali-origin people living in different countries could make a huge contribution in building Nepal and its prosperity.
He also expressed the view that identity of Nepali should be given to the Nepali-origin people across the world.
Aran further said the Embassy would hold discussion on how to give recognition to the Nepali-origin people residing at different countries and would put forth the demands of ANO before the government of Nepal.
Similarly, ANO Chairperson Dilli Adhikari mentioned that the government of Nepal should give identity of Nepalis to the Nepali-origin people, who are giving abroad from generations and ready to contribute in Nepal's prosperity.
Honorary Consul of Nepal for Ohio State and ANO Central Committee member, Dr Damodar Poudel, expressed the view that Nepali-origin people could contribute in Nepal's prosperity through the ANO campaign.
Newly elected Commissioner of Swatara Township, Nepali-origin Binita Puri was honoured on the occasion.(RSS)
