Government to take policy leap for film sector development: Communication Minster Kharel

Kathmandu, Nov 10: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has expressed his confidence that the government would take initiative for the overall development of film sector.     

At the 'Cultural Transformation Award-2082' distribution ceremony hosted by the Film Development Board here on Monday, Minister Kharel said the ministry would work for the development, expansion and sustainability of film, as well as for the larger interests of the artists.     

The minister lauded the Nepali cine sector for its crucial role in the societal transformation. He dubbed the cine artists as change agents of the country.     

"The film sector is the intermediary of change in the country. The state has to look after the wellbeing of those who dedicated their entire lives for nation through social security", the minister added.     

He shared, "I have issued necessary instructions to the office-bearers of the ministry to come up with a plan of action for the development of Nepali film sector and welfare of film artists during his tenure. Discussion has already initiated on the works to be done for policy reforms".     

Likewise, Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal pledged to facilitate the process for the sustainable development of the film sector.     

Also on the occasion, 15 film artists were facilitated with cash award and letter of appreciation in recognition of their contributions to the social and cultural transformation.(RSS)
