Nawalpur, Apr. 7: The District Coordination Committee of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN), Nawalpur, is set to organise the Third Nawalpur Festival on the occasion of the Nepali New Year.
The organisers said that the Third Nawalpur Indigenous Nationalities Cultural, Tourism, Food and Trade Festival will take place from April 9 to April 20 at Nawadurga Rangashala, Bhattola, and Kawasoti-2.
According to District Chairperson Ram Kumar Shrestha, the main objective of the festival is to promote the culture, traditional attire, lifestyle and cuisine of indigenous nationalities.
Shrestha said the festival is also expected to help revive economic activities that had slowed down following the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than 200 commercial, hotel and awareness stalls are expected to be featured at the event.
The festival will showcase traditional indigenous houses, ritual and cultural exhibits, as well as food stalls linked to various communities.
Organisers are expecting more than 250,000 visitors to attend. A 20 per cent discount on entry fees for students and free admission for senior citizens has also been arranged.
The organisers further added that the festival will include performances by national and local artists, along with various sports and entertainment attractions.
Although the event is being coordinated by the District Coordination Council of the Federation, it is being jointly organised with the participation of all indigenous communities within the district and 10 ethnic organisations based in the area.
