11 rescued from Phewa Lake in Pokhara after sudden windstorm

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 6: Eleven people stranded in the middle of Phewa Lake in Pokhara Metropolitan City-6, Kaski, have been safely rescued by the Armed Police Force (APF). The incident occurred at 4:15 PM on April 5. 

According to authorities, the group was boating on a standing paddle boat when a sudden windstorm struck the area, leaving them stranded in the middle of the lake.

The Armed Police Force said they received information about the incident at around 4:15 p.m. Immediately after receiving the alert, a rescue team from the Phewa Rescue Tower under Armed Police Force Nepal No. 24 Kalika Battalion, Kaski, was mobilized.

The rescue operation was carried out under the leadership of Assistant Sub-Inspector Bishal Gham. The team successfully rescued all 11 individuals and brought them safely to shore.

Those rescued include  Sagar Bhujel, aged 19, and Suman Chaudhary, aged 20,  of Shuklagandaki Municipality–2, Tanahun; 21 year-old Salina Pun of Bagmara, Pokhara-33; and Sanjita Pun, Sumina Tamang, Sushma Pun, Sanjita Magar, and Riya Magar from Myagdi and Pokhara.

The rescued group also included three Indian nationals from New Delhi, 28-year-old Ayan, 28-year-old Ashlam, and 26-year-old Syadb.

The Armed Police Force confirmed that all of them were rescued safely and no injuries were reported.
