By Our Correspondent,Surkhet, Apr. 3: The funeral of 16-year-old Inisha Bk from Surkhet took place on Thursday. Inisha was found dead in the community forest of Birendranagar on March 7 and her family had refused to receive her body for 27 days.

The family had initially refused, claiming she was a victim of gang rape and murder.

However, following the arrest of those involved and the court’s order to remand them in custody for investigation, the family agreed to receive her body.

The cremation took place at Samjhi Ghat of the Bheri River on Thursday, the family confirmed.

After a two-week investigation, the police submitted their report to the Public Prosecutor’s Office last week. On Sunday, the office filed a charge sheet at the Surkhet District Court, and following a remand hearing on Tuesday, the court ordered the accused to be held in custody pending further investigation.

The Juvenile’s Bench of Surkhet District Court, presided over by Judge Deepak Dhakal, ordered all four accused to remain in custody. As per the court’s directive, they will be sent to a juvenile correction facility.

According to court information officer Ujjwal Rawal, due to the gravity of the case and the preliminary evidence, the accused will remain in custody until the investigation is complete. The remand hearing was part of ongoing proceedings in the Children’s Bench since Monday.

Following Inisha’s death, protests had erupted in Birendranagar over the incident.
