By TRN Online, Kathmandu, April 29: President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane said that the government issued the ordinance for performing pro-people work by ending constitutional and legal vacuum.

Lamichhane said so while talking with the media, following the parliamentary party meeting on Wednesday.

RSP President claimed that the ordinance has been issued not to fragment any political party or to save any power, but to facilitate people's work.

Lamichhane said that the vacant post in the constitutional bodies will be filled on a merit basis through open competition.

Going beyond the trend of appointing people through nepotism, RSP is trying to give opportunities to capable individuals.

He clarified that there is a need for an ordinance for the co-operative to give immediate relief to the victims of co-operative fraud, and to return the savings of victims by confiscating the property of the perpetrators.

President Lamichhane stated, “Victims will not receive compensation merely through slogans; we are trying to accelerate the work.”

According to him, the controversial political appointments made by the previous government would be corrected.

the government is preparing to remove appointments made on the basis of nepotism and financial influence, and to assign responsibilities only to qualified individuals.

He further argued that, as a sign of its full commitment to democracy, the government had even handed over the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee to the opposition without engaging in prior dialogue.
