blog

Karnali, April 1: Speakers from different sectors have viewed the postal service is significant for Karnali, which has a difficult geography.

During an orientation organized by the Department of Postal Service for the new civil servants- kharidar and nayab subba- they underscored that postal service should, however, be improved.

Secretary at Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers in Karnali, Bipin Acharya, said the postal service must be technologically equipped so that it could carry further relevance.

Lead trainer Dhruba Raj Acharya informed that the newly formed government had advanced policy in the 100-point action plan for reforming the postal service, while it was ignored by the previous ones. Point no 27 of the governance reform agenda released by the government had stated that essential public services like passport and citizenship copy would be delivered at people's doorsteps.

"Government has planned to promote postal service with its modernization as courier service so that essential documents could be supplied to people's residence," he reminded, arguing that it has further shown the relevance of postal service.

The orientation would be helpful for employees' performance with skill and knowledge building.

Director at Postal Service Directorate in Surkhet, Govind Prasad Pande, informed that postal service can not be belittled, but it requires improvement as per time. He shared the example of Japan where postal service is among top five sectors generating highest revenue.

This service has further important in Karnali Province which is both remote and difficult.
