Minister Gurung urges disaster preparedness

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 30: Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung has stressed the importance of initiating disaster management preparations before the onset of the monsoon.

Speaking on Sunday with Dinesh Bhatta, CEO of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, Minister Gurung urged authorities to ensure readiness for potential disasters ahead of the rainy season.

The executive chief, Bhatta, described the discussions as part of a routine process.

“This is a regular procedure. Previous home ministers used to arrive late, but the current minister came swiftly, which will make disaster management easier for us,” he said.

Minister Gurung also highlighted his prior experience in the field of disaster risk reduction.
