Organisations raise funds for Dutta’s treatment

By Our Correspondent,Janakpur, Mar. 24: Various organisations in Janakpur have become active in raising financial support for the treatment of lyricist and journalist Ashok Dutta.

Dutta has been suffering from oral cancer for a long time. A meeting held at Mithila Natya Kala Parishad decided to organise a charity show for his treatment.

The meeting was attended by more than two dozen artists from Janakpurdham, including representatives from Maithili Development Fund, Rangadarpan, Ramanand Youth Club, and Maithili Sahityakar Sabha. The meeting decided to hold the charity programme on April 4 at the hall of the Maithili Development Fund.

According to Ritesh Sah, Chairperson of Rangadarpan, dozens of artists from the Mithila region will present their cultural performances at the programme.

 He added that the funds collected from the event will be used for Dutta’s treatment. He also urged all art lovers and concerned bodies to participate in the programme and extend their support.

Dutta, a renowned lyricist, composer, former athlete, and journalist from Mithila, has recently been deprived of regular health check-ups and treatment due to financial constraints. Having contributed for a long time to the fields of music and media, he is now awaiting support to save his life, said Rangadarpan Chairperson Sah.

He informed that Dutta has been suffering from cancer for approximately three years.
