Muslim community distributes new clothes to inmates on Eid

By Siraj Khan,Nepalgunj, Mar. 21: On the occasion of Eid, the great festival of the Muslim community, new clothes have been distributed to inmates in Naubasta and Nepalgunj prisons in Banke by the Muslim community of Banke.

As Eid falls on Saturday, the Nepalgunj Muslim Society, Banke, distributed new clothes as Eid gifts to fasting prisoners in Naubasta Prison in Kohalpur and Nepalgunj Prison on the eve of the festival, said Abdul Hakim Halwai, president of the society.

He said that a total of 54 inmates, 39 from Naubasta Prison and 15 from Nepalgunj Prison, received new clothes to wear on Eid.

The society’s senior advisor and former president, Munna Mansuri, said that the clothes were handed over to the prison management at both locations for distribution to the prisoners.

Earlier last week, the society had also distributed various food items for the fasting month of Ramadan to prisoners in Naubasta and Nepalgunj prisons.

Meraj Ahmed Himalaya, secretary and spokesperson for the Muslim Society Banke, said that the prisoners were provided with new clothes to ensure that everyone could experience the joy of Eid equally.

Vice-President of the society, Firoz Warsi, and others were also present on the occasion.

Similarly, the Nepalgunj Muslim Society, Banke, has extended its warmest wishes and congratulations to all citizens on the occasion of the great festival of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The festival of Eid will be celebrated on Saturday across Nepal. A collective prayer will be offered at the Eidgah in Nepalgunj at 8 a.m., according to the Nepalgunj Jama Masjid and Eidgah Management Committee.
