HoR elections: Candidates accelerate election activities in Jhapa-3

Bhadrapur (Jhapa), Feb 3: At a time when the election to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 5 is coming closer, election activities have been accelerated in Jhapa constituency-3.     

Locals from tea shops to farmland as well as thoroughfares have been found talking about the election.     

The Election Commission has determined the time for the publicity of election from February 16-March 2. Election related rallies, door-to-door campaign, assemblies could be organised during the period. Candidates are now allowed to meet voters and cadres.     

Candidates have now accelerated door-to-door programmes. A candidate of the Nepali Congress, Rajendra Kumar Ghimire, said the role played by the party to ensure people's rights from democracy to republic is the basis to win voters' trust.     

Similarly, UML candidate Hari Bahadur Rajbanshi opined that Jhapa-3 lags behind in development as compared to other constituencies of Jhapa, stressing the need of UML's victory in the constituency.     

An independent candidate Man Prakash Sangraula claimed that he would make his entry in the parliament becoming the voice of the farmers as there is no representation of real farmers in the parliament.     

He mentioned that he filed his candidacy to raise the problems of farmers in the parliament.     

Likewise, Dilli Ram Ghimire of the Nepali Communist Party stated that he registered his nomination for good governance and stability.     

A total of 17 candidates are in election race in Jhapa-3. According to the EC, Jhapa-3 has 140,857 voters.     

There are 67 voting centres and 164 polling stations in this constituency. Bhadrapur municipality-1 to 8, Birtamod municipality-10, haldibari rural municipality, Kachankabal rural municipality and Bahradashi rural municipality lies in Jhapa constituency-3.     

Rajendra Kumar Ghimire of the Nepali Congress, Hari Bahadur Rajbanshi of the CPN (UML), Dilliram Ghimire of the Nepali Communist Party, Prakash Pathak of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rajendra Prasad Lingden of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Karnalal Rajbanshi of the Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Harsa Lal Rajbanshi of the Janamat Party and Santosh Kutuwal of the CPN (Maoist Centre) are in the electoral fray in the Jhapa-3 electoral constituency this time.     

Likewise, Ujyalo Nepal party's Shyam Krishna Pathak, Janata Samajwadi Party's Binita Kumari Rajbanshi, Sanghiya Lokatantrik Rastriya Manch (Federal Democratic National Forum)'s Chandrakala Sawa, National Republic Party's Jayen Magar, Shram Sanskriti Party's Deepak Timsina, Nepal Workers and Peasants Party's Dharma Lakshmi Duwal, Mongol National Organisation's Yam Kumar Shrestha, and independent candidates Abhay Rajbanshi and Man Prakash Sangroula are in the electoral competition.     

Rajendra Prasad Lingden of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, who had allied with UML, won from Jhapa-3 in 2074 BS and 2079 BS elections. In the second Constituent Assembly election of 2070 BS, the Nepali Congress had won and in the first Constituent Assembly election of 2064 BS, the Maoists were victorious.(RSS)
