Nepalgunj, Jan. 30: In recent times, incidents of fire have been increasing in various shops and business establishments in Nepalgunj.
In view of this, the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has handed over fire extinguishers to the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City.
To ensure immediate control in case of fire incidents in shops or at homes, the Chamber handed over 25 fire extinguishers to the Sub-Metropolitan City.
At a programme organised at the Chamber’s office, President of the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Tanka Dhami, handed over the 25 fire extinguishers to Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City Mayor Prashanta Bista.
Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Bista stated that most fire incidents in the Sub-Metropolitan City have been found to be caused by electrical short circuits. He emphasized the need to use quality electrical wiring and equipment while building houses and shops.
Stating that Nepalgunj remains at high risk of fire incidents, Mayor Bista stressed the importance of adopting all safety measures and keeping fire extinguishers in every house and shop to prevent major losses.
Similarly, Chamber President Tanka Dhami said that although people invest heavily in building houses, shops, and industries, negligence in safety measures often leads to major losses due to fires and other incidents. He added that even investing a few thousand rupees in fire extinguishers, compared to investments worth millions, can significantly reduce damage.
On the same occasion, Mayor Bista handed over two fire extinguishers to Inspector Shekhar Khadka, Chief of the Ward Police Office, Nepalgunj. He also provided two fire extinguishers to the Nepalgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The remaining 21 fire extinguishers will be kept by the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City.
