Bajura, Jan. 30: Chhededaha Lake, a well-known tourist destination in Khaptad Chhededaha Rural Municipality, Bajura, has been covered in snow for the past few days. The lake lies between Ward Nos. 4 and 7 of the municipality.

A gift of nature, the lake is known for its natural beauty. With thick snowfall this season, it appears even more enchanting, drawing the attention of both domestic and foreign visitors. As the lake sparkles under a blanket of snow, the number of visitors has increased noticeably in recent days.

The lake is also regarded as a pilgrimage site. Visitors arriving here are seen singing and dancing Deuda around the lake. Following heavy snowfall on Tuesday evening, the entire area has remained under snow cover.

Although frozen and snowbound, the lake continues to charm visitors. Snow can be seen both inside and around the lake, creating a striking scene. The reflection of snow from the surroundings onto the lake surface has made the area appear white from all sides. Many visitors said they were amazed by the view.

In winter, the lake turns white with snowfall, while during the monsoon its surroundings turn lush green, enhancing its appeal. The lake has increasingly become a favourite destination for visitors. It lies along the route connecting Bajura with the neighbouring district of Bajhang.

Considered one of Bajura’s natural assets, the lake is still awaiting proper conservation and promotion. Local Bimal Rawat said that timely conservation and promotion could significantly improve the economic condition of the local people.

At present, candidates and activists from various political parties are busy with door-to-door election campaigns. As the lake lies along the route connecting Naina, Sudara, Oligau, Aatichaur, Budhawada and Lamgau to Dogadi, campaigners often stop their vehicles from taking photographs.

Candidates also said that conservation and promotion of the lake is among their top priorities.

However, the lake has been the subject of a long-standing local dispute, which remains unresolved. In addition, the area has faced a high risk of landslides in recent years.

Dil Bahadur Rawat, Chairperson of Chhededaha Rural Municipality, said that since the lake is at high risk of landslides, protection measures must come first. Only then can the disputed issues be resolved.

He added that there is a plan to divide the surrounding area into sectors and move ahead with conservation and promotion efforts.
