By Jayman Budhamagar, Rukumpurba, Jan 28: Snowfall has been occurring in highland areas of Rukupurba district since last night while it is raining in lower areas.
It is the second snowfall here.
The farmers in all three local levels of this
district are joyful for it will make a good harvest.
As the snowfall and rain has occurred in time, it is
expected that there will be a good production of winter crops, said Dipendra
Chhantyal, a resident of Putha Uttarganga-13.
The snowfall has, however, obstructed the mid-hill highway at Bhume Rural Municipality-1 that borders with Baglung district.

Uma Shankar Prasad Yadav, chief district officer of
the Rukumpurba district, said that vehicles heading to Kathmandu from
Rukumpurba were stalled at this side of Patihane- Rukumkot, Kankri and Lukum
while those coming from Kathmandu were stalled at the other side of Patihane.
Security forces including the police are deployed to
clear the snow from the road.
Sabina Budha Magar, vice-chair of Bhume Rural
Municipality, said the JCB of the municipality was used to remove snow from the
road. "As it is snowing heavily, the road gets covered with snow within
few minutes after the JCB clears it."
