By Siraj Khan, Nepalgunj, Jan 26: Dipendra Bista, a candidate from Banke constituency 2 for the election of the member of the House of Representatives (HoR), has held discussion with family members of the martyr of the Gen Z movement.
Bista reached home of Aayush Thapa, who was martyred during the Gen Z revolt in September.
After filing nominations for the March 5 HoR election, Bista started his election campaign first by visiting martyr Thapa’s family members.
“I also participated in the movement from my place here, and my candidacy is to represent the voice of the Gen Z and the families of the martyrs,” said Bista.
A candidate from the Nepali Communist Party (NC), Bista talked with the martyr’s family members about the feelings and demands of the martyrs’ family, responsibility of the state to the family and justice to them.
He said youths were killed during the gen Z movement and that he would not stay silent until the martyrs’ families get justice.
“It is the first responsibility of the state to deliver justice to the families of the martyrs,” said Bista, “Our party, NCP, is committed to this and after election we will be focused on getting demands of the Gen Z addressed.”
Gen Z movement was not a sudden burst of anger but a demand for generational justice and future, said Bista.
During the discussion, Sushil Thapa, father of martyrs Aayush Thapa, expressed dismay over the way no action was taken as yet against the culprits of the instances of killing during the Gen Z movement. “We should vote for those who carry Gen Z voices this time.”
Punam Thapa Magar, mother of martyr Aayush, hoped that the sacrifice of the Gen Z would not go wasted. “The state should take the issues raised by the Gen Z movement very seriously.”
