Truck plunges into Indrasarovar Lake

By Anil Parajuli, Hetauda, Jan 26: An Eicher truck carrying mineral water has fallen into the Indrasarovar Lake along the Markhu–Kalanki road section at Markhuchaur, Indrasarowar Rural Municipality–1, Makwanpur.

The Eicher truck (Ba 3 Kha 3954), en route to Markhu from Kalanki, accidentally moved forward while unloading water and plunged about 15 meters off the road into Indrasarovar Lake, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushkar Bogati of the District Police Office, Makwanpur.

As soon as information about the incident was received, a police team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Dipesh Yadav from the Temporary Police Post, Markhu, was immediately deployed to the scene, he said.

Police said that the truck is currently submerged in the lake and not visible, and necessary efforts are underway to retrieve it.

 Police have confirmed that there were no human casualties in the incident.

According to police, the owner of the truck is Digaj Amatya, a resident of Shankhamul, Lalitpur Metropolitan City–11. 

The driver has been identified as 21-year-old Sujan Pariyar from Suligad Municipality–1, Gorkha, and the co-driver is 18-year-old Sujan Jimba from Makwanpurgadhi Rural Municipality–3, Makwanpur. 

The accident site lies about 700 meters east of the Temporary Police Post, Markhu.
