HoR election candidates' personal details released

Kathmandu, Jan 24: The Election Commission (EC) has released the personal details of the candidates standing in the election to the House of Representatives member.     

According to Section 22 (1), Schedule-10 of the House of Representatives Election Act, 2082 BS, the personal details submitted by candidates along with their nomination papers have been made public as per Subsection (3) of the same section, said the Election Commission spokesperson, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.     

The Commission has stated that, in order to make the election process transparent, fair, and trustworthy, it is necessary to make candidates' personal details public according to legal provisions, and the EC has therefore published the details of all relevant candidates on its official website.     

It is believed that this will make it easier for voters, concerned bodies, media, and the general public to obtain necessary information about the candidates. The Commission has indicated that candidates' personal details can be viewed on the Commission's website.(RSS)
