Four candidates withdraw nominations in Syangja

By Radhakrishna Dumre, Syangja, Jan 23: Four candidates have withdrawn their nominations for the House of Representatives election scheduled for 5 March.

Manoj Nepali Darji, who had filed his candidacy as an independent from Syangja Constituency No. 1, departed from his nomination. Similarly, Tikaram Regmi of the Progressive Democratic Party (Pralopa), along with independent candidates Ghanshyam Pandey and Dilip Shrestha from Constituency No. 2, removed the nominations, Election Officer Rishi Poudel said.

Regmi also removed his candidacy after getting an agreement to help the candidate of Rastriya Swatantra Party, Jhabilal Dumre.

According to him, the withdrawal followed a shared understanding between Pralopa and the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

Earlier, 28 candidates, including six independents, had filed nominations in Syangja.

 After the withdrawals, 24 candidates remain in the race, including three independent.

Syangja Constituency No. 1

According to the Office of the Chief Election Officer, the confirmed candidates in Constituency No. 1 include Bharat Raj Dhakal from Shailendra Ghimire from the Nepali Communist Party, the Nepali Congress, Min Prasad Gurung from the CPN-UML, Dr Dhananjaya Regmi from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Arjun Kumar Gurung from the National Republic Nepal Party, Yam Bahadur Gurung from the Mongol National Organisation, Hukum Bahadur Rana from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Rabindra Malla from the Ujyaalo Nepal Party, Som Bahadur Pariyar from the CPN (Maoist), Ran Bahadur BK from the Progressive Democratic Party, and  Piran Gurung from the Labour Culture Party  including independent candidate Ashok Bista.

Syangja Constituency No. 2

The confirmed candidates in Constituency No. 2 include  Padam Bahadur Bishwakarma from the Nepali Communist Party, Bhagwat Prakash Malla from the Nepali Congress, Khim Bahadur Thapa from the CPN-UML, Jhabilal Dumre from the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Haridev Thapa from the Rastriya Janamukti Party, Dhan Bahadur Thapa from the Jai Matribhumi Party, Tej Bahadur Thapa from the National Republic Nepal Party, Kharka Bahadur Thapa from the Mongol National Organisation, Rajendra Gaire from the Rastriya Janamorcha, Rabin Pathak from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party including independent candidates Khim Bahadur Kshetri and Sagar Thapa Magar.
