Indian acting envoy calls on VP

Kathmandu, Jan. 22: Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and Acting Ambassador, Dr. Rakesh Pandey, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav on Wednesday.

During the meeting held at the Vice President’s Office in Lainchaur, the two exchanged greetings and discussed various aspects of bilateral relations, cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.

According to a press statement issued by Office of the Vice President on Wednesday, Vice President Yadav said Nepal-India relations have remained deep and close for centuries at the social, cultural, religious, spiritual, economic, technical and people-to-people levels. 

He said that the relationship is based on sovereign equality, friendly cooperation, mutual respect and trust, and said Nepal attaches high importance to its ties with India. He also welcomed India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, which gives special priority to relations with neighbouring countries. Stating that India is one of Nepal’s key development partners, Vice President Yadav thanked the Indian government for its significant support in economic, technical and other sectors. 

Through Acting Ambassador Dr. Pandey, he conveyed best wishes for the good health of Indian Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and for the progress and prosperity of the Indian people.

On the occasion, Acting Ambassador Dr. Pandey said India is ready to support Nepal in all sectors. He also said that India’s willingness to cooperate particularly in sports, especially cricket, and added that India is also prepared to provide maximum possible assistance in Nepal’s railway sector.
