The NC's special general convention elected Gagan Kumar Thapa as the president of the party.
The establishment faction led by its president Sher Bahadur Deuba had dismissed the special general convention and kicked general secretary duo Bishwa Prakash Sharma and Gagan Thapa from the party.
Newly elected Vice-President of Nepali Congress Bisow Prakash Sharma through his social media (Facebook) confirmed that the Election Commission has recognized that the recent Second Special General Convention (SGC) of the Nepali Congress is valid.
Earlier today, the newly-elected central office-bearers and central members by the recent Second Special General Convention (SGC) of the Nepali Congress had demanded the immediate update of the party’s central committee.
They had asserted that the SGC was valid and, therefore, its decisions are also legitimate.
