By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Jan 8: Nepal has said that it is watching recent developments in Venezuela and urged all to adhere to the principles of sovereignty and exercise restraint.
Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs said, "The Government of Nepal has been closely
following the recent developments in the Bolivarian Republic of
Venezuela."
Nepal calls upon all parties concerned to exercise maximum restraint and to avoid actions that may further escalate tensions, read the press release.
"Nepal underscores the importance of fully respecting the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of states, as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations".
Nepal emphasises that disputes should be resolved peacefully through dialogue, diplomacy and mutual understanding, according to the press release.
Nepal's views come up in the context of US military
strikes in Venezuela on 3 January and abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolas
Maduro along with his spouse and then taking them to the USA to face cases in the
court.
