By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, : Help Nepal Sports Club and New Diamond Sports Club clinched the men’s and women’s titles respectively at the ninth edition of the NVA Volleyball Championship on Saturday.
Help Nepal swept Tribhuvan Army Club in straight sets to secure their third consecutive crown, having previously won in 2022 and 2023. They sealed the final at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Kathmandu with identical 25–21 scorelines across all three sets.
The champions remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, winning all five of their matches without dropping a single set. This was the fourth successive final between Help Nepal and Army, with Army having defeated Help Nepal in the 2021 decider.
Nepal Police claimed third place in the men’s competition after edging Rukum Paschim Training Centre in a five‑set thriller. Police fought back from two sets down to win 25–27, 23–25, 26–24, 25–22, 15–10.
Help Nepal dominated the individual awards in the men’s category. Fakhar Uddin was named Most Valuable Player, while Chiranjibi Khadka, Mubashar Raja and Utasav Khadka collected the Best Server, Best Spiker and Best Coach awards respectively.
Army’s Durga Bahadur Khadka and Hari Hajur Thapa were recognised as Best Blocker and Best Setter, while Police’s Bhim Bahadur Gaha took the Best Libero title.
In the women’s competition, New Diamond ended their four‑year wait for glory by defeating defending champions Nepal Police Club in straight sets.
They won the final comfortably 25–18, 25–19, 25–18 to claim their second championship.
Like Help Nepal, New Diamond remained unbeaten and did not concede a set throughout the tournament. They first lifted the trophy in 2021 by beating APF, but lost the 2022 final to Police and were again defeated by Police in last year’s decider.
APF Club finished third in the women’s championship with a commanding 3–0 victory over Army, winning 25–13, 25–17, 25–10.
New Diamond also swept the individual honours in the women’s section. Pratibha Mali was named Most Valuable Player, while Sumitra Regmi, Pragati Nath and Salina Shrestha won the Best Blocker, Best Setter and Best Libero awards.
Coach Kumar Rai was adjudged Best Coach. Police’s Saraswati Kattel and APF’s Niruta Thagunna took the Best Server and Best Spiker titles.
