Gandaki, Dec 29: The Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal (HAPN) has drawn attention of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Kul Man Ghising, for the conservation of Fewa Lake.

Submitting a six-point memorandum to Minister Ghising, who is also taking the charge of Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport as well as Urban Development Ministry, the HAN demanded to allocate sufficient budget for the conservation of Fewa Lake.

A team led by central committee member of the Association and coordinator of Hotel Association Pokhara Nepal Advisory Council, Bharat Raj Parajuli, met with Minister Ghising and requested him to take necessary initiatives to address the problems and challenges facing the tourism sector.

A memo signed by Association Chair Laxman Subedi asked Minister Ghising to play special role in conservation and promotion of Fewa Lake by allocating necessary budget in the coming fiscal year, saying the lake has started turning into a pond due to flood, landslide and encroachment.

The memo also demands to make arrangement of appropriate relief for revival of hotels that were directly affected from Gen Z movement, to exert pressure on bodies concerned to complete the upgrading of main highways connected to Pokhara on time and to forward a plan for the construction of fast track to directly connect Pokhara with Indian borders.
