By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 26: The meeting has been held between the incumbent Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, and the chairperson of the CPN (UML) KP Sharma Oli, at the Oli residence in Gundu, Bhaktapur, on Friday morning. The Communication Minister reached Oli's residence for the purpose.
According to the Secretariat of the Minister of Communications, the meeting took place as per the scheduled program. Earlier, Kharel had met the President of Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, at his residence in Maharajgunj.
There is a schedule to meet the Coordinator of Nepali Communist Party Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', as well.
It is said that the preparation for the upcoming elections held on March 5, and creating a conducive environment for the elections and political consensus were discussed in the meeting.
The government has made efforts to meet separately with the top leaders of the three major parties and express its commitment to making the elections free, fair, and fearless.
The issue of the travel ban imposed on Oli outside the Kathmandu Valley by the Commission of Inquiry into the Gen-Z movement was also raised in the discussion.
The UML has pledged to participate in the elections if the environment becomes conducive.
The government has said that the meeting is an attempt to build national consensus.
The meeting is expected to ease the political tensions and move the election process forward.
