By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Dec 21: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has said that there has been 30 remarkable achievements in the last 3 months since he assumed the office.
At a press meet held at
the ministry today on completion of 3 months in office, Minister Kharel highlighted
30 significant achievements in the period in sectors such as mass
communication, telecommunication, information technology, postal service,
printing and cinema.
Saying that the
accomplishments were made despite mountains of challenges, the Minister said,
"These gains were made overcoming many challenges. I will work harder
honestly in the days ahead."
Registration and renewal
of online media from department of information and broadcasting, printing of
driving license from security printing press, increase in access of
communication in remote rural areas, expansion of 4G services in places
including Mt. Everest basecamp, inaugural of Ntv world, declaring journalist Suresh
Rajak as martyr, publication of news in Kulung language in the Gorkhapatra are
some of the achievements made during the period.
Arrangement of free wifi
in 19 places in Kathmandu and initiating the process to arrange for free wifi
in 29 places outside Kathmandu, honouring the wounded journalists during the Gen
Z movement, ensuring coverage of journalists and employees in state media with
the Social Security Fund (SSF) are some of the achievement made during the
period, according to Minister Kharel.
On the occasion,
Minister Kharel, who is also government spokesperson, said that the country has
entered into the election as the government has made all necessary environment.
He said that in addition
to creating conducive environment for the poll stipulated on March 5, the
government has been working to curb corruption and promote good governance.
