E-voting possible if national consensus forged: Minister Kharel

Lalitpur, Dec 20: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has announced that the provision for e-voting should be arranged in the upcoming election if national and political consensus was forged.     

Addressing the CAN B2B Summit 2025 organized by Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN-Federation) in Lalitpur on Saturday, Minister Kharel pointed out the need for piling pressure on all sides to make arrangements for e-voting through the means of information technology adding that the e-voting was cost effective as well.     

On the occasion, he said that there was no alternative to embrace technology in the present age of digital transformation.     

Minister Kharel stated that the government has made all preparations to hold the House of Representatives (HoR) elections on March 5 as per the aspirations of Gen-Z Movement. Likewise, he shared that there was a rising demand for digital route.(RSS)
