Dhan Bahadur Gurung Musical Evening in Pokhara

By Our Correspondent,Kaski, Dec. 20: Dhan Bahadur Gurung Musical Evening is being held in Pokhara on February 21. 

The event is being organised not only to honour an individual but also to promote the indigenous art, culture, language, and music of the Tamu (Gurung) community, thereby enhancing the dignity of the musical field.

The event is being organised by the Tamu (Gurung) Artists Association Nepal, Gandaki Chapter at Pokhara Stadium.

 According to programme coordinator and former Vice-Chancellor of the Gandaki Academy, Gore Gurung, the special musical programme is being organised to honour senior artist Gurung and to establish the ‘Tamu Artists Welfare Fund.’

He informed that preparations for the programme have already begun.

During the programme, singer Dhan Bahadur Gurung will perform his famous songs from 1988 to the present. 

His popular songs include Barkhe Khaje, Kyude Thulen Dukha Muna, Khwalbai Maya, Kho Rimai Thumai, Chhyawani Ngolsyo Ni, Maya Pirati, Ayado Thagu, and Tangtingaiko Melaima, among others. He has created nearly 5,000 songs to date.

Artist Gurung has expressed his excitement about the programme, stating that with everyone’s support, the event will be grand and dignified.

The organisers have set a target of generating approximately Rs. 1.75 million in revenue and saving Rs. 1.175 million from the event. 

The entry fee has been fixed at Rs. 300. According to the organisers, around 8,000 audience are expected to attend the event.

To facilitate the movement of audiences, bus services will be arranged from major junctions of Pokhara, programme coordinator Gore Gurung informed.
